According to Debenhams, the builder style has gone straight from the construction site to the catwalk. Torn jeans, untied boots and lumberjack style shirts have contributed to the new look known as 'working man chic'.

"When demand began to rise three years ago, we first thought it was caused by genuine working men buying their working clothes from our stores," said Debenhams director of menswear buying, Paul Baldwin.

"However, when the trend spread quickly to stores where a high percentage of our customers are young and fashion conscious."

The working man chic look has found favour with leading pop groups such as JLS, The Wanted and teen heart throb Zac Efron. The style has even appeared in Spring/summer 2011 Collections by top designers such as Dolce and Gabbana.

Of course little boys often want to look like these pop-stars as well as be like their dads so expect the 'builder look' to follow soon.

Beloved children's cartoon star Bob doesn't really make the cut in this fashion trend so here's how you can find some of the best bits when it comes to fixing up that builder boy look.

Best of the builder for boys look
