Cashing in on the new arrival of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s first child, Blue Ivy, a fashion designer has applied to make ‘Blue Ivy Carter NYC’ a trademark name.

The New York designer Joseph Mbeh filed an application with a US Patent and Trademark Office just four days after the little girl was born.

In an attempt to place a line of children’s clothes under the name, the application, which cost Mbeh just $25, was successful. It was unknown at the time that’ Blue Ivy Carter NYC’ was filed without the consent of the infant’s famous parents.

The New York designer, who also owns another fashion label, FourFront, has made a collection of mock up photos of girls in clothing with tags bearing Blue Ivy Carter NYC on them.

Designer children’s clothes for new-borns

Whilst you might not have the former Destiny’s Child cash flow or would like to set up a label yourself, you can still find some great gifts for new-borns.

We love these bootylicious baby booties from My 1st Years. The leather sheepskin booties will keep new feet feeling fresh and comfortable.

They can also be personalised with delicate threading around the ankle. The £25 baby boots, suitable for 3-6 month year olds, are a particular favourite of Elton John and David Furnish. They are available in both pink and blue.

If you’re not crazy in love with fancy footwear, maybe these solid silver little acorns would make the ideal gift for a new-born. They too can be personalised, making a great Christening memento or just celebrating the new arrival. The keepsake gift can be attached to a leather cord, pink/blue ribbon or silver chain. The little acorns from Marie Walshe Jewellery will set you back around £55 approximately.

Mums and kids won’t be put off buying designer children’s clothes from Prada, following the banning of their latest advert.

The international fashion house recently had their latest advert, starring child actress Hailee Steinfeld, taken off the screens after showing ‘dangerous images.’

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) was inundated with complaints from angry parents who branded the advert showing the 14-year-old sitting on a railway track.

The ‘irresponsible’ advert for the labels MiuMiu range showed the actress sitting alone looking upset and crying.

This caused outrage because it was suggestive of youth suicide. The ASA rejected that the advert implied youth suicide but ruled that the image broke industry regulations because it showed a child in an unsafe location.

The young starlet, who was Oscar nominated for her role in the remake of western classic True Grit, is the face of Prada’s sister brand Miu Miu.

Prada Retail UK, responding on behalf of Miu Miu, defended the advertisement saying that it was part of a ‘serious, high-fashion campaign aimed at adult women’.

The company said that the campaign, which was shot by top filmmaker and photographer Bruce Weber, was meant to look like the set of an imaginary film.

Prada also said that it was clear that Hailee Steinfeld "could have easily moved from where she was sitting because she was not restrained in any way".

The advert was allegedly placed only in adult high fashion magazines such as Tatler.

The company also said that Miss Steinfeld was not crying and had not been told to do so, it was just her ‘wistful and thoughtful face’

The ASA said: ‘Because the ad showed Miss Steinfeld, who was 14 years of age only when the photo was shot, in a potentially hazardous situation sitting on a railway track, we concluded the ad was irresponsible and in breach of the Code in showing a child in a hazardous or dangerous situation.”

Whilst little celebrities have been seen smartening up for their Thanksgiving, we look at what designer children’s clothes your little one might want to wear this Christmas.

With less than a month to go until the big day, it’s time to get into the festive spirit. Here are some cracking Christmas clothes for kids.

1.    Dressing up

Ever wanted to make your child dress up as a Christmas pudding, well now you can. Thanks to a number of sweet, if not strange, fancy dress items from various high street shops, you can turn your child into anything from an elf to a reindeer. Matalan, Mothercare and Mammas & Pappas all have adorable little costumes for little Christmases. This Christmas pudding outfit, complete with icing style hat and Holly ears, is deal for 0-24 months.

 2.    Knitted Jumpers

When it comes to Christmas, there’s nothing better than a good old-fashioned knitted jumper. Unless you think Mr Darcy from Bridget Jones is a fashion icon, fun Rudolf jumpers are only for kids. Straight from the online retailer, funkychristmasjumpers, here is the perfect Christmas Rudolf jumper. Available for 8 to 18 year olds, the Rudolf jumper is so cute and perfect to embarrass children across the nation! Available from £25.

3.    Christmas dress

This red and white Christmas dress from Baby Graziella is gorgeous and perfect for any family gathering, outing or party. The velvet dress with a rich ruby red body and separate under cream top is stunning. Available from £170, you certainly don’t want to get any messy mince pies down that!  However, your little one will look so cute in the dress, which also has a sweet empire waistline that forms a pleated skirt.

Rising star Kingston has been snapped looking all suited and booted for Thanksgiving with mum Gwen Stefani, dad Gavin Rossdale and younger brother Zuma.

He is regularly seen out and about the streets of LA, in his usual attire of combat boots and rocker t-shirts, with his famous mother. However, for this Thanksgiving he has smartened up, sporting a cute little bow tie and blazer combination.

The five year old was seen wearing a dark navy blazer paired with jeans and converse shoes. His 42-year-old dad and three year old brother accompanied him for lunch. Bush front man Gavin Rossdale also smartened up for the occasion, wearing a pair of black trousers with a white shirt and beige blazer.

Little Zuma  was rocking the double denim look with combat boots  and wide brimmed chocolate brown velvet hat.

Celebrating the holidays in style, the entire Stefani/Rossdale clan kept their eccentric fashion sense seasonal. Stefani’s little ones Kingston and Zuma are consistently cited as some of the best-dressed toddlers on the Celebrity scene.

The ex-No Doubt singer was seen in a cosy oversized woollen, tartan coat with matching mini skirt and leggings.

The cold L.A weather saw Stefani go for a pair of Vivienne Westwood pirate boots and a satchel from her own clothing brand, harajuku mini kids, for the complete look.

Female fashion icon and rock star, Gwen Stefani has recently launched her own range of designer children's clothes  Harajuku Mini kids.

In collaboration with retailer Target, her collection is inspired by Japanese punk. Her two little boys recently got involved, modeling the range at a show for Target.

It’s that time again. We are all set to have a peak at what fantastic and wonderful baby clothes have we found today! Here’s what’s on our wish list, what’s on yours?

Awesome T-shirt

Give your youngster a musical history lesson with this vintage looking t-shirt with a Led Zeppelin print. Lola & James is a funky, innovative and, of course, eco conscious children’s clothing label with all the cool prints and patterns you could ever want!

Straight from the streets of New York, Lola & James create funky clothes for little people. Launched in 2007, the fashion brand features bold and creative vintage looks, matching recycled fabric with funky designs to ensure that each item is a ‘one of a kind’.

Each piece claims to be totally unique and they are loved by celebrity parents including Angelina Jolie, Courtney Cox and the princess of pop, Gwen Stefani.

Cool coats

No added sugar is THE brand to keep track of when it comes to cool baby clothes.   Their funky and fresh prints bring clothes to life with a quirky fun twist. We love this girl’s lovely lightly padded (and water resistant) coat in soft silver grey. It’s perfect for keeping little bodies warm during harsh winters.

Not only that, but it allows your little one to breathe if she is wearing lots of layers to fight the cold. The coat is ideal for a snug and stylish look. The outfit would be complete with some bright tights and bold boots.

It also features a pink felt logo patch on the upper arm for detail. The coat is machine washable and available from £79.00 for 3 to 24 months.

While Santa might be frantically running around the shops trying to find the perfect gift, you don’t have to.

With just over a month to go before the big day, we hunt down some of this year’s hottest toys and designer children’s clothes, which will be perfect for a little certain someone you may know.

Funky footwear

These are not just UGG boots, these are naturally Australian EMU style UGG boots. Made with the finest Australian sheepskin and suede, the shoes are set to be the comfiest slipper turned shoes your child will ever wear. We love this Little Creature’s ladybird print boot for girls. The soft sheepskin interior apparently locks away moisture, making it odourless, whilst the durable hardwearing rubber sole means that your little creature can wear them anywhere, anytime.

This particular style is even popular with mini celebrities such as Suri Cruise and Hedi Klum’s daughter. Available in blue with red spots or red with black spots, from £80.

Doggie Doo

Named as this year’s must have gift, the puppy that poops is a must-have for kids. Doggie Doo is a game which involves the toy dog doing a poo (made out of plasticine) with the child having to scoop it up. At least it teaches children to care for their pets…

  2. Fijit Friends, Mattel, RRP £54.99
